Success for the Diam 24od across the Channel

The first ever british regatta on Diam 24od was successfully disputed in Poole on the 4th and 5th of may ! 5 teams competed in the Poole Regatta, an inter-series event similar to the Spi Ouest France race. Light winds at the start were followed by 15 to 20 knots towards the close …. Perfect ! Mike Golding wins in front of Philip Cotton and Robert Cullan on Team Concise.

It was a shock team of three circumnavigators on a small trimaran that found victory at the Poole Regatta last weekend on Diam 24od ! Mike Golding, Sam Goodchild and Conrad Humphrey (for one day), crewed together on board this one design vessel. This was their first experience on Diam 24od and they appreciated it !

Interview Conrad Humphreys et Mike Golding… par tourdefrancevoile

Conrad Humphrey : « There was a good fight on the water, it was a great moment of racing ! The boat is simple, but there is all you need in the right places. It’s well thought out. »
Mike Golding : « It’s a great boat ! An excellent, fun, fast and pleasure giving sea boat ! I really enjoyed it ! There should be a true fleet of Diam 24od’s here in the UK ! »

That is under way ! Having just crossed the channel, we can already count three « GBR » registered boats : Team Concise, Phil Cotton’s boat (acquired just before the Spi Ouest France event) and a third vessel sold to the sponsor of Piers Hugh Smith, a young and promising racer, just before the Poole Regatta, with the ambition of participating in the 2017 edition of Tour de France à La Voile .

And, a British racing calendar is in the process of being established.
